H.O.R.S.E. Poker Rules
Playing H.O.R.S.E. Poker essentially differs depending on the casino or tournament where the game is being played. The five variants of the game are played in a rotation basis, and the house rules will determine how this rotation takes place. Some house rules determine that rotation should take place after a specific number of poker hands, while others determine this by a time frame. So, for example, a player could play ten hands of Texas Hold ‘em before moving on to ten hands of Razz and so on. Or, alternatively, forty minutes of Texas Hold ‘em could be replaced by forty minutes of Razz and so forth.
What is clear is that a sound knowledge of all five components that make up H.O.R.S.E. Poker is required.
Texas Hold'em: A community card game where players need to complete their best possible poker hand using five community cards and two hole cards.
Omaha: A community card game that is similar to Texas Hold ‘em, where players need to make their best poker hand using two of the four dealt cards and three out of the five community cards.
Razz: A form of stud poker that requires players to make the lowest poker hand possible from seven dealt cards.
Seven Card Stud: A stud variant that requires players to make up a poker hand using a mixture of face up and face down cards that are dealt throughout the betting rounds in the game.
Eight or Better: The hi-low version of Seven Card Stud poker. |
